FF TYPE-0 HD_logo

In Final Fantasy Type-0 HD you have the option to sacrifice your active character in order to summon a powerful Eidolon to fight on your side. Each Eidolon or summon has different forms. In this guide we will show you how to unlock Ifrit and the others, how to unlock their different forms and how to use them in battle.

Things to know about Eidolons

  1. Eidolons will get experience like the other members of your team, so you will have to train them in order to upgrade their skills and abilities.
  2. You have the chance to revive a sacrificed teammate by using a reverse ability, like Rem’s Undying Wish.
  3. If your Eidolon is defeated in battle you can’t summon it for the rest of the mission.
  4. You are able to switch active leaders to play as another character. The Eidolon will choose its own method to get rid of the enemies, just like the regular NPCs.
  5. Eidolons can only be summoned in locations that are large enough for them. Each Eidolon has a different summoning radius.

Ifrit-Class

Ifrit-classes represent the element fire and are therefore able to cast powerful fire skills to destroy their enemies. Although they are pretty slow, they are able to charge enemies by using certain skills.

  • You unlock Ifrit during the mission “The Capture of Togoreth Stronghold”

Command abilities – Blazing Strike, Meteor Strike, Eruption;

Firebrand

Firebrand’s stats are incredibly high, allowing him to deal tons of damage before anyone can defeat him. Although his summon duration is with 45 seconds rather short, investing its APs will increase the duration up to 75 seconds.

  • You unlock Firebrand after you’ve completed the Expert Trial “United Front” on Officer difficulty

Command abilities – Blazing Strike, Meteor Strike, Eruption;

Rubicante

Rubicante’s Auto-Regen ability replenishes his HP over time, which redresses his pretty low Max HP. It has also pretty low Max MP, so using the ability Blazing Strike is your best chance to inflict damage to your opponent.

  • You unlock Rubicante during the mission “Operation MA Demolition” in Chapter 3. You have to complete the SO objective “Destroy Brionac as quickly as possible using your active leader”.

Command abilities – Blazing Strike, Eruption;

Vulcan

Vulcan is one of the few Eidolons that cannot be controlled on the battlefield. This Eidolon chooses its skills and targets on its own. The standard summon duration is about 50 seconds long, so try to unlock Vulcan’s key abilities to increase it up to 80 seconds.

  • You unlock Vulcan during the mission “The Battle of Judecca” in Chapter 5. You have to complete the SO objective “Take down Mikazuchi using your active leader”.

Command abilities – Blazing Strike, Meteor Strike, Eruption;

Calamity

Although Calamity has incredibly high offensive, defensive and Max HP stats, its only attack is the short-range ability Flaming Fist. Unlock the Flaming Dash skill to increase the damage output of this skill.

  • You unlock Calamity by completing the Expert Trial “A Charge on the Border” on Officer difficulty.

Command abilities – Flaming Fist

Ignis

Ignis is the magician of all the other Ifrit-classes. Its tremendously high Fire Magic stats is made for destroying your enemies with magic attacks. The MP Auto-Regen should be unlocked as soon as possible.

The Golem-class summons have amazing HP and Defence stats and the ability to gain temporary invincibility, which turns them into a moving fortress. On the other hand, they have a pretty slow movement and attack speed.

Gaia Stampede Stomp around and shatter the ground while damaging enemies

  • You unlock Golem by completing the mission “The Infiltration of Iscah” on Officer difficulty.

Command abilities: Megaton Punch, Gaia Stampede, Ancients’ Wrath;

Gigas

Gigas’ summoning duration is with 160 up to 200 seconds incredibly long. His high Max MP should be used to spam Megaton Punch or Ancients’ Wrath.

Command abilities – Megaton Punch, Gaia Stampede, Ancients’ Wrath;

Troll

Even tough Troll’s stats aren’t as remarkable as the ratings of the other Eidolons, his Auto-Regen ability is able to keep him alive long enough to tear a hole in the enemy lines. The skill Gaia Stampede is his best damage dealing option.

  • You unlock Troll by completing the Expert Trial “Colonel Faith’s Revolt” on Officer difficulty.

  • You unlock Ogre by completing the mission “A Fog-Laden Foray” on Officer difficulty in the second playthrough.

Command abilities – Megaton Punch, Gaia Stampede;

Titan

Titan has, next to his high Max HP and Defense stats, also a high starting level, allowing him to be an efficient ally right at the beginning. Keep in mind that his summoning duration (70 seconds) is rather low, even after unlocking the Summon Extension (80 seconds).

  • You unlock Titan in the mission “Machina’s Struggle” by completing the SO objective “The Crystal wills you to take down Golem” during your second playthrough.

Command abilities – Megaton Punch, Gaia Stampede, Ancients’ Wrath;

Dwarf Golem

Dwarf Golem isn’t able to use the ability Gaia Stampede, which makes it an extremely slow Eidolon. Try to summon this Eidolon near targets to increase the chance of actually hitting one or another. Dwarf Golem’s only command ability is Megaton Punch.

  • You unlock Dwarf Golem by completing the Expert Trial “The Climactic Clash at Azurr” on Officer difficulty.

Command abilities – Icicle Twirl, Diamond Dust, Winter Wonderland;

Shankara

This form has fairly high Ice Magic stats, allowing her to bomb her enemies with multiple Crystal Dust attacks. However, she has pretty low Max HP and summoning duration (45 – 65 seconds).

  • You unlock Shankara by completing the mission “Operation Breakthrough” during your second playthrough.

Command abilities – Winter Wonderland, Crystal Dust;

Petite Shiva

As Petite Shiva starts with a reasonably low level, she will have to gain experience to be an efficient ally on the battlefield. A combination of Icicle Twirl and Crystal Dust should be enough to take care of her enemies.

Command abilities – Icicle Twirl, Crystal Dust;

Diabolos

Diabolos’ biggest strength is his rich selection of command abilities. He is the only Eidolon to use a defensive command ability, the Dark Barrier, and is able to deal a lot of damage by using his Gravija Sphere. Be warned, the skill Gravija Sphere will also inflict damage to nearby allies.

  • You unlock Diabolos by completing the Expert Trial “Operation Dragon Slayer” on Officer difficulty.

Command abilities – Shadow Strike, Dark Barrier, Gravija Sphere;

Bahamut-Class

These Eidolons have a pretty slow movement speed and low Defense stats. Nevertheless, they have high base stats and are able to inflict literally tons of damage by using their command abilities. Each Bahamut form has relatively short summoning durations.

Bahamut

Bahamut has extremely high stats, except its Max MP rating and is therefore a great choice when your goal is to kill everything. The downsides are a pretty short summoning duration and that you will need a radius of three meters to summon it, making it only possible to summon this Eidolon in wide areas.

  • You unlock Bahamut by completing the mission “Operation Vulturnus” on Officer difficulty during your second playthrough.

Command abilities – Rush, Shock Wave, Mega Flare;

Neo Bahamut

Neo Bahamut has unbelievably high stats but also an incredibly short summoning duration (35 – 50 seconds), so you should choose another Eidolon if you want to fight longer battles.
